What will you learn in our Danish course for beginners?

Our beginner courses range across four proficiency levels. A simple survey at the beginning of your study will help us place you in the most appropriate level for your current ability and your goals. As you progress through the levels you build a solid foundation in the Danish language.

Berlitz Level 1 | CEFR Level A 1

Level 1 will give you a functional understanding of the language. You will be able to participate in simple conversations and exchanges. You will be able to:

  • Introduce yourself to new people.
  • Order food and understand service staff in Danish.
  • Ask simple questions, get directions, and book appointments.
  • Shop and compare products and pricing.
  • Answer basic questions, make simple phone calls and leave messages.

Berlitz Level 2 | CEFR Level A 2.1

Level 2 builds on your functional understanding of the Danish language, advancing your ability to add color and life to simple conversations: You will be able to:


  • Talk about yourself, your hobbies and describe what you do for work.
  • Interact with medical professionals regarding symptoms or health concerns.
  • Have simple conversations.

Berlitz Level 3 | CEFR Level A 2.2

Completing Level 3 will give you intermediate language skills. You will be able to navigate work and social situations by following the general meaning of conversations. You will be able to:

  • Socialize and make plans.
  • Add a description to your conversation.
  • Discuss movies, music, and events and purchase tickets
  • Take on more complicated work-related activities like budgeting.

Berlitz Level 4 | CEFR Level A 2.3

When you complete Level 4 you will have a firm foundation in the Danish language. You will be able to hold sustained conversations and understand topics in context. You will be able to:

  • Engage and participate in social and special events.
  • Talk about personal and business finances.
  • Discuss current news and events.
  • Describe your future plans.
