These steps help us learn about your situation, goals, proficiency level, and what you want to achieve through your language and culture program.
Here’s how it works:
- Learning about your needs: Once we understand your goals, we’ll explain the training options that suit you best and how they can help you achieve your goals.
- Orientation: We’ll explain how it all works, help you get started, introduce you to your language instructors, show you around the learning center, provide program materials, and explain our platforms.
- Reviewing your progress: We’ll ensure you’re on the right path to achieving your learning goals, retaining what you’ve learned, and we’ll provide you any extra learning support you need to embrace your new language and culture with confidence.
- Testing your achievements: We’ll measure your understanding and skills so you can see your progress before moving to the next level.
- Certifying your achievements: You’ll receive a certificate to celebrate your accomplishments!
- Progressing to the next level: We’ll check to see if you’re happy with your achievements and advance you to the next language proficiency level.
A language lesson lasts 45 minutes. Usually, we recommend having a minimum of 2 lessons together, which equals 90 minutes.
For international groups, a lesson is either 60 or 120 minutes long.
All sessions are structured logically:
- Your instructor presents new knowledge,
- you practice it in class,
- and at the end of the lesson, you demonstrate your newly acquired skills in a performance activity.
Lessons for Berlitz Live Online, Berlitz Flex, Berlitz On Demand and On Demand Plus courses take place in our own digital learning experience hub, the MyBerlitz Student Portal.
This platform is much more than a simple “digital classroom.” It creates an intelligent online environment around you that supports your continuous progress and makes the learning experience more complete.

Before starting teaching, all our instructors must successfully complete our internal Berlitz training. The training program is consistent worldwide, so it contains exactly the same elements whether in Princeton, Sidney, or Vienna:

Our Local Lead Instructor continuously supervises and assists the teachers in their work.
For most of the languages we teach, we use our proprietary digital learning materials. You can access your book, audio and video materials, and exercises on the Berlitz Student Portal.
For English and German, alongside general everyday topics, you can choose business and other specializations.
Yes. Through the MyBerlitz Student Portal, we provide several learning tools powered by artificial intelligence.
Speaking Tutor allows you to practice conversations with video avatars in dialogues that simulate real-life situations. You also receive instant feedback on your pronunciation and language use.
Practice Hub offers a range of AI-based tools for interactive practice in grammar, writing and speaking.
Skills Tutor helps develop business communication skills, for example by practicing the language used in presentations, meetings or negotiations.
These tools support continuous progress and help build confident language use between lessons, but they do not replace learning with a teacher.
