Dear Customer,

We would like to inform you that the general conditions of sale described below, with respect to the laws in effect regarding consumer protection and electronic commerce, indicate the conditions and methods with which you can proceed with the online purchase of the language courses that interest you through the www.berlitz.it site. We ask that you read them carefully and accept them before continuing with your purchase.

1. Scope of terms and conditions

The following terms and conditions of business of Berlitz Language Centes S.r.l., address Roma, Via Tuscolana 713, CF 07237610584, vat Number 01727721001, Registro Imprese di Roma 07237610584, R.E.A. 603387, C.C.I.A.A. Roma - hereinafter referred to as Berlitz - shall form the basis of contracts concluded regarding all services/products offered on the website www.berlitz.it to private consumers and Company.

The individual regulations within our terms and conditions of business shall, according to their content, apply to consumers and companies as defined in Article 1341 of the Italian Civil Code. Berlitz reserves the right to modify these general conditions of sale at any time by posting them on the web site.

Berlitz will not be responsible in any way or for any reason, for direct or indirect damages to people and/or things brought about by the full or partial rejection of an order.

Except for the cases indicated in Point 5, the amount due for the course will still be owed.
The student must observe the rules of the Berlitz courses along with all other rules of the school.

a. Individual Instruction flex and Total Immersion

One lesson is 45 minutes long. Each lesson is followed by a five-minute break.

Each course signed up for must be completed within 9 months of registration. Once the aforementioned period expires the student loses the right to the remaining lessons. Customers unable to attend a booked lesson must inform the Berlitz Language Centre management/reception by 3 p.m. on the day prior to the planned lesson. Customers unable to attend a lesson scheduled for a Monday must inform the centre by 3 p.m. on the preceding Friday at the latest. Customers shall be charged for any lessons that were not cancelled, or which were cancelled too late. The student has the right to transfer the residual amount of lessons that have not been used to any Berlitz school in the world or to another person of his choosing.

b. Individual Instruction fixed

One lesson is 45 minutes long. Each lesson is followed by a five-minute break.

The lesson schedule and days cannot be changed by the student.

If it is impossible for the student to attend lessons (because of sickness or some other reason) they will still be subtracted from the total.

c. Group Instruction

One lesson is 45 minutes long. Each lesson is followed by a five-minute break.

The school reserves the right to close groups that do not have the minimum number of students, to combine them with others at the same level or to proportionally reduce the number of contractual lessons based on the minimum number of participants.

Each group has a minimum number of participants. If this is not reached, Berlitz reserves the right to close these groups, to combine them with others of the same level, the number of lessons required will decrease whilst the payment conditions remain the same (flexible lesson adjustments).

The group courses are categorized as follows:

Semi-private (SP)

Minimum 2 participants

1 participant: course postponed or optional individual instruction

Berlitz Class

minimun 4 participants

3 participants: 40 lessons

2 participants: 30 lessons

Berlitz shall be entitled to move a customer to a different group for instructional reasons, if such a move is deemed to be beneficial to the progress of either the customer or the group.

The schedule for group lessons cannot be changed by the student. If the student needs to modify the hours or days of his course, he will have to ask the school's director, who, having ascertained the availability of courses at the same level, may be able to grant his request.

While courses are in progress, the following regulations apply: lessons which a customer is unable to attend (due to illness, vacation, job commitments, etc.) must still be paid for.

The course cannot be suspended or cancelled by the student. Only in the case of a documented location transfer does the student have the right of withdrawal from the contract, with two months' prior written notice. The same procedure and same notice will be required in the case of a transfer of residual credits to another Berlitz centre.

If the student attends additional lessons after the end of his contract, the contract will automatically be prolonged under the contractual conditions in force.

2. Price details

Prices may vary without notice and it is understood that the only valid price for the purchase of the course is that indicated by Berlitz at the time the order is confirmed.

3. Conditions of purchase

The contract partner shall register/order the relevant service/the relevant product by clicking on the "Book" button and confirming this booking. The User shall thus make a legally-binding offer to order the service requested/the product requested from Berlitz. Berlitz shall accept this offer by sending a confirmation email. When the confirmation email is accessed by the User, the contract between Berlitz and the User shall come into force. This confirmation email will have:

  • All data is to be inserted by the customer, who will have to verify its accuracy and promptly make any necessary corrections
  • Information related to the features of the chosen language course
  • Information about the price
  • Payment details

If the order is not accepted, Berlitz will promptly notify the customer.

4. Terms of payment

Payment of the price shall take place by credit card .

Berlitz accepts the following credit card: Visa e Mastercard.

All of the orders carried out, before being accepted, are verified directly with the institutions that issued the customer's credit card.

Berlitz does not apply any additional fees for credit card payments.

Berlitz reserves the right to ask the customer for additional information such their home phone number/mobile number or to request copies of documents proving ownership of the credit card used. If the requested documentation is not provided, Berlitz reserves the right to not accept the order.

With this form of payment, once the procedure is completed, you have made a formal purchase offer that will be confirmed by Berlitz via e-mail. If there are no problems, your order will automatically be confirmed. If, however, your order cannot be confirmed and/or accepted, Berlitz will notify you promptly via e-mail or phone.

5. Right to withdraw/cancelation

Pursuant to and in accordance with Article 64 of Legislative Decree dated 6 September 2005, number 206, consumer customers (that is, a person who purchases the language course for his own personal use, acting on his own behalf and not on behalf of any professional activity, or where he does not include a VAT number in his order) has the right, within 10 business days, to receive confirmation of the order from Berlitz, to exercise his right to cancel, and to be refunded the price paid.
To exercise his right to cancel the consumer customer must send a certified letter with return receipt to the following address:

6. Copyright

The work materials provided by Berlitz are copyright-protected and may not be reproduced or used for commercial purposes, either in full or in part, without the consent of Berlitz. The User expressly recognizes this right.

7. Applicable laws

The laws of Italy apply.


8. Court of jurisdiction

The sole court of jurisdiction for all disputes relating to any dispute connected to the interpretation, execution and cancellation of this remote sales contract, if the customer is a consumer (that is, a person who purchases the language course for his own personal use, acting on his own behalf and not on behalf of any professional activity, or where he does not include a VAT number in his order) will be referred to the judge for the place of residence or domicile of the consumer, if he lives in the Republic of Italy; in all other cases, it will be referred to the Court of Rome.

9. Data protection

With regards to your personal data collected by Berlitz Language Centers S.r.l. ("Berlitz" hereinafter) at the time of your enrolment and with regard to the data you will provide or that will be produced during the carrying out of the didactic program, we inform you of that:

1) Berlitz shall process your personal data - also with the help of electronic means - in order to duly carry out the obligations arising from the contract existing with you. Should you request to interrupt or suspend the data processing, we shall not be able to carry out the didactic program.

2) Your personal date may also be processed, during or after completing your language course, to be used for eventual promotional activities sending electronic and/or paper communications as well as performing market surveys and researches.

Your personal data may be transmitted to companies which Berlitz has entrusted or will entrust to carry out the above said promotional activities and/or market surveys and researches.

3) In accordance with art. 7 of Legislative Decree no. 196 dtd 30 June 2003, you shall have the right to obtain:

- updating, rectification or, where interested therein, integration of the data;

- erasure, anonymization or blocking of data that have been processed unlawfully, including data whose retention is unnecessary for the purposes for which they have been collected or subsequently processed;

- certification to the effect that the operations mentioned above have been notified, as also related to their contents, to the entities to whom or which the data were communicated or disseminated, unless this requirement proves impossible or involves a manifestly disproportionate effort compared with the right that is to be protected.

4) In accordance with art. 7 of Legislative Decree no. 196 dtd 30 June 2003, you shall have the right to object, in whole or in part, on legitimate grounds to the processing of your personal data, even though they are relevant to the purpose of the collection.
