Language Learning for Adults

Our team will help you find the language course that best suits your learning style and schedule. Berlitz courses for adults are designed to be flexible and personalized:
- For busy professionals: one-on-one and intensive courses.
- For social learners: small group classes.
- For online learners: we offer both individual and group classes online, as well as self-paced programs like Berlitz Flex and Berlitz On Demand.
We assess your listening and speaking skills using the Berlitz scale from 1 (beginner) to 10 (native speaker level).
The time needed to complete one Berlitz level depends on the course format and the individual:
- One-on-one course: 40 lessons
- Group course: 50 lessons
- Berlitz Live Online: 60 lessons
- Berlitz Flex (online self-study): approx. 6 months
Of course, personal progress may vary depending on individual aptitude.

Our one-on-one and group lessons typically last 45 minutes, including a 5-minute break. Students usually attend 90-minute sessions (2 lessons back-to-back), and breaks are flexible.
For international group classes (Berlitz Live Online), lessons are 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the schedule.
Coaching sessions included in Berlitz Flex last 25 minutes.
It depends on your goals and availability, but we generally recommend at least two 90-minute sessions per week.

Online courses are also available with live, instructor-led classes via video call – you can join from anywhere with a stable internet connection. We use the same Berlitz Method online as we do in person, with a focus on developing speaking skills.
Self-paced online programs include varying amounts of teacher support and work smoothly on most smart devices.
Since most of our courses are personalized, pricing depends on several factors: course type (individual or group), format (in-person or online), and the number of lessons.

Language programs for Kids and Teens
Practical information about the language lessons. Starting a group. How to enroll. Language courses.
- Private lessons: Ideal for children with a specific goal in mind (e.g. language exam, better grades, moving schools or countries). Available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Hungarian as a foreign language.
- Closed group courses: For siblings, friends, or classmates who want to learn together. These courses can start anytime during the year and are available both online and in person. Max. 4 students per group.
- Open group classroom courses: Anyone can join. These start in line with the school year – in September and mid-January. Max. 6 students per group. Available in English. Location: our language center on Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street.
- Online open group courses: Small-group learning without geographic limitations. Also starts in September and mid-January. Max. 3 students per group. Available in English and German.
- Summer programs: Week-long English-language camps during school holidays for kids aged 7 to 17. Groups are formed by age and language level. Max. 7 students per group. Location: our Bajcsy-Zsilinszky center.
Children can join our courses from age 7. From age 18, we recommend our adult courses.
When forming open groups, we consider not just language level but also the child’s age.
At Berlitz, language learning is an engaging experience.
There’s no pressure – kids use the language freely and with confidence. Our experienced instructors also introduce them to new cultures.
They learn grammar naturally through speaking, not by memorizing rules. They get lots of positive feedback, making learning fun.
Plus, their cognitive and social skills develop – helping them become more self-assured.
Private lessons and closed group classes are held at our Váci Street Language Center or online via Zoom.
Open group courses are available both online and in-person at our Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Language Center.
Our summer programs also take place at the Bajcsy-Zsilinszky center.
Online lessons happen in secure Zoom rooms. The access link is sent via email before the first class.
Online classes follow the same Berlitz Method as our in-person ones – with a strong focus on speaking.
We offer flexible pricing to match your budget. Course start dates vary by type – some run year-round, others start at specific times.

All training begins with an assessment of each participant’s language skills. We measure listening comprehension and active language use using a 1 (beginner) to 10 (native proficiency) scale.
Training is available in the following languages:
- English: beginner to native level, individual or group, in person or online
- German, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Hungarian (as a foreign language): same as above
- Other European languages: Czech, Danish, Finnish, Dutch, Portuguese, Romanian, Swedish
- Languages beyond Europe: Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin
In addition to general language skills, we offer business and industry-specific trainings.
To make accessing important course information easy, most of our processes are handled online:
- Scheduling platform: All class schedules and content are managed via an online platform that your company can also access. It offers real-time updates on attendance, remaining sessions, cancellations, instructor information, and more.
- Digital feedback surveys: We regularly measure student satisfaction throughout the course. Surveys are sent via email, and results are shared with the company.
- Digital learning materials: Say goodbye to forgotten textbooks - our materials are accessible from a smartphone anytime, anywhere through our digital platform.

The Berlitz Method is based on full language immersion: training is delivered only in the target language, encouraging active participation.
The method was born from a happy accident when Maximilian Berlitz’s assistant, Joly, who didn’t speak any English, substituted for him in class. Using gestures and context-based explanations, Joly helped students learn quickly and naturally. To Berlitz’s surprise, the students progressed faster than expected.
