Berlitz language camp in Cochem on the Moselle

Sightseeing, language and sports: variety is the name of the game at our language camp in Cochem. Kids can look forward to sports, excursions and other exciting activities – not to mention learning a foreign language at the same time.

Language learning, but slightly different

The core focus of our Berlitz method is to use the foreign language as much as possible. We do this primarily through play: for example, by having the kids create a camp diary, play language games, or work on projects.

Language learning, totally different than at school – without any pressure and with lots of fun. Kids can expect the following in our language Camp in Cochem:

  • "Learning by speaking" in small groups with a qualified counselor,
  • 4 x 45-minute classes five camp days a week.

At our Cochem language camp, we aim to give kids the confidence and self-assurance they need to speak the language in a group setting. Therefore, we make sure that the learning groups are assigned according to age and ability level. Friendships often develop this way, and many kids can’t wait to see their new friends again at another camp the following year.

The language camp in Cochem offers the following activities

The learning never stops, even during recreational activities. That means the foreign language is spoken throughout the day. This may be new and unfamiliar for some, but it ensures kids can practice the foreign language in a relaxed, intuitive way. We know from experience that kids get used to it quickly.

There’s something for everyone at our language camp in Cochem. Here’s what our program can look like:

  • Creative activities: Decorating cupcakes, creating photo series, making friendship bracelets, designing board games or drawing comics. The imagination knows no bounds.
  • Exploring the city: There’s plenty of great photo ops on our trip to Cochem. A charming promenade and great shopping are just perfect for strolling and grabbing an ice cream.
  • Excursions: On one afternoon, we might do a castle hike to the nearby Reichsburg Cochem or to the Winneburg castle ruins or scale the trails between the vineyards.
  • Other activities: Team challenges provide the best entertainment, and we might even do a city rally.

At the end of the day, cozy BBQ, campfire or quiz evenings and movie nights await – a great way to end the day.

The exciting day ends for participants of our Day Camps with afternoon activities at 5.30 p.m. But don’t worry: The next day directly starts at 8.45 a.m. with language training and varied activities.

Important note: The offered activities are depending on the weather, date, and availability – therefore the program may vary.

Welcome to Cochem: this is where we’ll be staying

Moseltal-Jugendherberge, Klottener Str. 9, 56812 Cochem

Our accommodation

At the language camp in Cochem, we’ll be staying in shared rooms – boys and girls separately – at a youth hostel.

Boredom doesn’t stand a chance with all the activities we’ve got planned throughout the Moselle valley, on sports fields, at the children’s playground, and in the nearby town of Cochem. The outdoor space includes a barbecue area and a roof terrace for some ultimate chilling.

If the weather isn’t cooperating, the youth hostel features indoor play equipment such as foosball, pinball, billiards and table tennis, or we can borrow a few board games.

The accommodation is located above the banks of the Moselle with incredible views of the town, river and the Reichsburg. Excellent conditions for an unforgettable vacation.

Surroundings: Castles and the Moselle

Cochem is a wonderful destination that has a lot to offer with its half-timbered houses, winding streets, and beautiful Moselle promenade. The Reichsburg, which looks like it came straight from a fairy tale, sits high above the town.

Excursions and hikes in the area are simply breathtaking and the youth hostel makes for the perfect starting point.
