Vacation vibes at the Sellin Berlitz language camp on Rügen

Improving English skills and enjoying fun beach days at the same time? That's what kids can look forward to at our English camp in the seaside resort of Sellin on the island of Rügen. For us, it's important that kids speak English as much as possible – both during learning games and throughout the many recreational activities. This makes language learning fun!

Sellin language camp – the perfect place to learn English

Speaking instead of cramming: kids learn English best by using the language. That is our mission at the holiday camp in Sellin. In addition to a great leisure program in the afternoons, our participants can look forward to:

  • Lessons in the mornings (5 days a week, 4 x 45 minutes each) and
  • Learning in small groups according to the Berlitz method ("learning by speaking").

During lessons, our qualified counselors will focus on one thing above all: having fun with English through, for example, varied learning methods. In addition to language games, kids might conduct interviews, write or edit English song lyrics, or create articles for their own camp magazine.

The Berlitz team will assign kids to learning groups according to their age and language level on the day of arrival. This ensures that all kids benefit from the best possible learning environment.

Beach, sports, and lots of fun: our leisure program

Fun and action all day long: depending on the weather, our on-site Berlitz team will organize great activities for the afternoons and evenings: for example, a beach volleyball tournament on the beach or, if the weather is bad, playing the popular game "Capture the Flag" in the sports hall.

What makes it extra special: our experienced counselors speak English not only during morning classes, but also throughout the leisure program. That way, the children get to improve their language skills while having fun and in a relaxed camp atmosphere.

Here’s an example of what our varied leisure program in the afternoons looks like:

  • Everyone aged 10 and older can show off their skills at water skiing on the nearby lake, or learn how to water ski under supervision. At the same time, children aged 7–9 can take the legendary "Rasender Roland" train to the nearby Granitz hunting lodge. There is an exciting guided tour before heading back to the accommodation.
  • At the beach, kids can swim, sunbathe, play beach soccer, and build sand sculptures.
  • Sports enthusiasts can look forward to soccer on the artificial turf field, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis or, if the weather is bad, noodle hockey in the hall.
  • We’ll get to know the Baltic island better, for example during excursions or a rally through the town of Sellin.
  • Or we can get creative together and make bracelets and necklaces, try duct-tape art, and write our own song lyrics in the camp language.

The swimming pool in Sellin promises additional water fun in autumn and at Easter. Whirlpools, water games, slides and much more await young visitors. Things get really wild in summer: at the Zirkow waterskiing facility there is action on the water and relaxation alongside. Of course, you can also just chill out on the beach, watch and enjoy.

There’s also always something new and exciting planned for the evenings: a campfire evening, moonlight hike or cozy games night after dinner together – there’s always something going on at the Berlitz language camp in Sellin on Rügen.

Note: Actual activities offered may vary depending on weather and availability.

On some dates, we also offer a family camp for accompanying parents or grandparents. The adults also have language classes in the morning, separately from the kids, following the Berlitz method. In the afternoons and evenings, they participate in the leisure program together with the kids. Families stay in their own family rooms.

Additional information

Having qualified counselors is the be-all and end-all at our Sellin language camp. Our counselors come from different countries, including England, Mexico, France, the US, and Austria. They have plenty of experience in looking after kids.

In addition to the lessons in the mornings, they are responsible for organizing the recreational activities in the afternoons and evenings. What makes us stand out: our counselors speak to kids in the foreign language all day long and motivate them to use the foreign language as much as possible. That's what makes learning fun!

Our ultimate goal: kids should feel completely at home at our Berlitz language camp. In addition to playing, having fun, and making new friends, that also includes good meals, three times a day. All three meals a day are prepared at the accommodation. Drinks like juice, tea, and water are provided with meals. Kids should bring a reusable water bottle to keep them hydrated between meals.

We also aim to offer alternatives for vegetarians, those with allergies, or kids who require special diets. Please be sure to contact us before booking!

The first camp day: You will get the exact arrival times with the travel information send to you before the start of the camp. In a common greeting, kids will receive their welcome package and get to know the counselor team and other participants. Everyone is welcome to ask any questions they may have at the special parents’ welcome session. In order to place them in the right learning group, we will do a short placement with the kids, based on a few short written and oral questions.

On the day of departure, kids can be picked up after the joint farewell for all camp participants. Please be on time, as the entire Berlitz team will also be leaving. After camp, we will send you the camp magazine and, of course, a certificate of participation.

Then take a look at our kids camp FAQ page where we have gathered further information.

We will also send you further details regarding the pack list, arrival and departure etc. by e-mail after your booking.
